Kitchen Tip: Microwave Popcorn

I know what you're thinking: "Karen, we know how to make microwave popcorn. It tells you right on the bag!" Ah, but did you know you don't need to BUY microwave popcorn in order to make popcorn in the microwave? Tip time:

You'll need some regular old popcorn and a brown paper bag. This is one of the larger ones, but a little one will work also.
Pour some popcorn in the bag. This is 1/3 cup, but you don't really need to be so exact.

Fold down the top and put it in the microwave

Now start the microwave on high and be prepared to listen. I set mine for 3 minutes even though it really takes about 2. When you hear the furious popping start to slow down, take the bag out and shake it. Just like storebought!

This is how much popcorn it made. (6-8 cups, maybe?) My bag definitely could have fit more than this.
Now you should melt some butter and toss the popcorn in a bowl with the butter and some salt. I have other plans for this batch, though, so I'll just spread it out on this sheet...

Stay tuned!
